It’s my wedding anniversary on 21st of November and I planned to celebrate it in Dalhousie with my family. Dalhousie is a nature paradise hill station in Himachal Pradesh. So I started searching internet for my travel planning and online packages. I found some good deals on travelmasti.com. So I send a query to them. I like Hotel Grand View on their site and confirm my booking there via paying through credit card. I strike the 3 nights 4 days package deal for 5 adults for Rs 20000/- inclusive of daily bed tea, breakfast and dinner and also some other services like complimentary use of Pool Table and Zorbing for two persons at Khajjiar.
Now Dalhousie is approximately 600 kms away from Delhi and it’s a 12 hours drive. So we took our new Toyota Innova Car and started our journey in the late night hours on 18th of November. After 2 hour of drive we reached Karnal and have Dinner at local Dhaba (Restaurant). Restaurants at GT Road NH1 are generally very good and hygienic. Route from Delhi to Dalhousie is like you have to start outer Ring Road towards GT Karnal Road. Take NH 1 and proceed towards Ambala (200 Km). Then continue on NH 1 – towards Ludhiana (115 Km), then Jalandhar and from there take highway NH 1A towards Pathankot and from there take Highway SH towards Dalhousie (82.Km).
We reached Dalhousie around 10.00 am in morning and headed towards our hotel. It was pretty chill there in November. So don’t forget to bring your woolen clothes. We take rest whole day in our Hotel Suite. Next day we went to see local places like Khajjiar and Kalatop. Khajjiar is picture perfect spot with an emerald saucer shaped meadow set amidst a dense deodhar forest. Kalatop is a dense Sanctury and has a rest house and fine views of the surrounding country make it an ideal spot for a weekend retreat. This little Sanctuary has a variety of wildlife. Cars are not allowed inside this place now days. Our whole day spent in to these two places. Dalhousie is called Switzerland of India and its worth coming here.
Next day it’s started raining in morning and after 2 hours of raining it started snowfall. Can you people believe it, Snowfall in the month of November? Yes, it was really snowing. We enjoy the 3 hours of snowfall to full extent but soon we have to get back to our hotel as temperature was really dripping down. Hence we have to enjoy the whole day in hotel itself.
Next day it was our anniversary. Hotel staff has made some special arrangements like candle light dinner and cake etc. We went for some shopping in local market like Gandhi Chowk, Subhash Chowk etc. It was really good for shopping also. Next day we have to come back. But it was really a memorable and pleasurable trip moreover because of snowfall.
It’s nice to share my experience with all of you. Try / Visit Delhi to Shimla!
